Here’s my story

Moving from Brazil to Scotland with my family back in 2007 was an incredible journey, filled with both excitement and its fair share of challenges. One of the hurdles I anticipated was getting used to the Scottish accent. Those first few months were a bit of a struggle as I worked to understand the spoken language. But the real challenge for me was maintaining my self-confidence. It wasn't about mastering grammar or expanding my vocabulary; it was more about overcoming the fear of communication. The Scots, with their patience and kindness, were always willing to repeat themselves whenever I asked, "Repeat, please!" Despite their support, the fear of not being understood almost had us packing our bags to return to Brazil.

However, I persevered, thanks to the unwavering support from my family and the warm-hearted Scots who helped us adapt to this beautiful country. Fast forward almost 17 years and three months, and I'm still here. My accent might still hint at my Brazilian roots, but in my heart, I know I belong here. I love living in Scotland and am proud to call myself Brazilian.

This journey has inspired me to create a resource for others ready to embark on their own adventures, moving and adapting to new places. I want to help others settle in and thrive, just as my family and I have.
